HOW I PROGRESSED
I started my academic journey by completing my Bachelor degree in Psychology at National and Kapodistrian University of Athens (EKPA). Following that, I pursued specialized training in Clinical Psychopathology at Aiginiteio University Hospital of Athens. This advanced training delved deep into the complexities of mental disorders, offering me a comprehensive understanding of various psychological conditions and their treatments.
The real transformation in my career though came with my specialization in Systemic Approach, attained through the “Skills and Interventions of Systemic Counseling” a training program at Charis Kataki’s Human Relations Laboratory. Undergoing personal psychotherapy as part of this training was a journey in itself, profoundly shaping my later life, path, and decision-making processes. Psychotherapy, combined with my educational background, helped me to better understand myself, develop a deeper understanding of the people and the systems that surround us and learn to interact on a more efficient and emotionally satisfying basis.
My early career found me working with adults and children with special needs along with their families. This period was crucial, as I navigated the complexities of applying my academic knowledge in real-world scenarios. It was during this time that I realized the importance of following my own path towards fulfillment before guiding others on theirs. This realization was a turning point, prompting me to claim what I was needed in that point. By setting aside dysfunctional beliefs and compromises, I accepted that the time had come to claim the life I currently wanted even if I had to change direction for a while.
The next chapter of my life was marked by a bold move – changing countries and diving into the aviation industry, a decision that was much more about chasing knowledge through life experiences. This phase was not just a change in my profession but a journey rich in learning, broader understanding and personal growth. As I navigated this new and diverse environment, I was exposed to a rich tapestry of cultures and experiences, each further broadening my perspectives and enriching my professional growth. Each one of these experiences expanded my perception and added valuable insights to my work as a psychologist.
As time passed, my internal growth and maturity deepened, fueling my desire to give back more significantly. This led me to participate in a Peer Support program, where I provided psychological support to individuals facing personal or professional challenges. My involvement in this program was not just about lending a helping hand; it was an opportunity to apply my skills and my knowledge further shaping my approach and my next step.
As my journey unfolded, I became increasingly aware of the growing buzz around a dynamic new field – Coaching. This piqued my curiosity and aligned with my constant desire to stay updated of the latest developments in wellbeing and psychology. So, I continued by completing my studies in the “Coaching-AC Accredited” program, certified by the International Organization Association for Coaching.
This exploration into Coaching was driven by my observation of its growing popularity and effectiveness. By integrating coaching into my repertoire, I aimed not just to keep pace with contemporary methods, but also to offer the most effective tools available for personal development.
My experiences across different cultures deepened my understanding of the profound and varied effects of divorce on individuals and their families. Witnessing these impacts firsthand, I realized that the challenges stemming from divorce are not confined by cultural or national boundaries – they are universal experiences that touch lives deeply.
This realization steered me towards further expanding my academic pursuits. I chose to specialize in “Divorce Management” recognizing the urgent need for specialized support and assistance to those who need it.
Additionally, my enduring passion for working with children and my background in dealing with those in determination led me to expand my studies in “Special Education.” I have continually been involved with this extraordinary community, recognizing each child as uniquely gifted in their own way. My experiences have reinforced the understanding that, much like the challenges faced in divorce, the needs of individuals with special needs overshadow ethnicity, language, and cultural backgrounds.
