HOW I STARTED

My name is Maria Poupalou, I am Clinical Psychologist and I am coming from Greece. From my earliest years, I was drawn to understand how our minds work. This interest wasn’t just academic; it was deeply personal as I was always curious about why people think and act differently. I found myself wondering over why we think the way we do, and how our thoughts shape our actions and reactions. My journey into psychology began not just in books and classrooms, but in the very essence of everyday life.

As a young girl, life’s ups and downs were my first teachers. I learned early on that facing challenges and disappointments was an integral part of growth. This personal evolution sparked a strong desire within me – not just to navigate my own emotional journey, but also to be able one day to assist others in theirs. The dream, which seemed simple and naive at its inception, gradually revealed its complexities and significance as I delved deeper into the study of the mind.

However, this dream did not remain a mere wish. Gradually it matured, as did I, into a clear vision for my future. The simplistic desire to ‘help others’ evolved into a deeper understanding of mental health and well-being. I began to see psychology not just as a field of study, but as a tool for transformative change – both for individuals and for communities at large.

Thus, my professional path as psychologist was set in motion. It was a journey that started from a place of curiosity, compassion, and empathy, leading me through academic studies and into the core of mind complexities. This path has been as rewarding as it has been challenging, and it marks just the beginning of my ongoing quest to understand and enhance in any way I could the wellbeing of others.
